There's a decent amount of paperwork and legwork involved in getting a campaign up and running, but it didn't really feel official until we published this website.
The district: Vermont House district Chittenden-13, which is roughly Burlington south of Maple St, with a population of about 8,000 people.
The process: the first step is to get onto the ballot for the primary election on August 13th. Everyone will receive ballots in the mail, and you can also vote in person in your usual polling place. The primary will choose one or two candidates from each major party. We are running in the Democratic primary to secure one of the two Democratic nominations. To get on the ballot, a candidate needs to submit some paperwork to the Secretary of State, including a Consent of Candidate form and a financial disclosure form. And, crucially, a petition to get the candidate on the ballot signed by at least 50 voters in the district.
Where we're at: We're in the final stages of collecting those signatures, and we'll be filing all that paperwork in the next few days. We've also set up the infrastructure for a campaign -- in addition to the website and fb page (facebook.com/bramforvermont), we've set up the bank account, set up an ActBlue account, and started putting together a campaign staff. The staff in a VT House race is all volunteer, so if you want to volunteer, or know anyone who might, please email me at bram@bramvt.com . Thanks!
